Seeing Red

In a good way!  Our walls are RED in our kitchen and dining room!  We’ve also painted a red accent wall in our living room.  We’re oh so close to being done in the kitchen/dining room of our new home.  So far, we’ve replaced the kitchen light, cleaned and polished the cabinets, painted the ceiling and walls, removed all the old shelf paper, deep cleaned the appliances, replaced the sink faucet, bought under cabinet lighting (which needs to be installed), and painted/cleaned the laundry room/pantry.  We STILL need one more coat of red paint and to move the ceiling fan that’s in the dining room and replace it with a chandelier of some sort.
It’s definitely beginning to feel more like home and less like “Rudeen’s.”  We are SO VERY THANKFUL for the help we’ve had from my parents, his parents, our pal Luther, and my great-aunt Nellene.  We wouldn’t be as far along as we are without them!  This week/weekend, we hope to finish off the above rooms completely and get the living room painted.  Andy’s dad painted the ceiling in there on Sunday and it look’s great!
All this said, we are 59 days away from June 25th!  Most of the wedding details are coming together, though we still have to plan a reception…it stinks that caterers are so expensive!  I know it will be nice none-the-less, but it’s going to be a lot more complicated than just saying “here’s the money, do your thang.”
And lastly,  I have the most wonderful husband-to-be that any girl could ever ask for!  He showed up at my job yesterday with a card and a frosty to make me feel better when he knew I was having a bad day :-)   I’m so proud of him, too!  He only has 2 1/2 more weeks of student teaching!  From what I hear, he’s pretty dern good at it, too!  Nothing but rave reviews and other teachers using the materials that he’s created!  So, 2 1/2 weeks and wrapping up one seminar class and he is officially a licensed teacher!  I’m SO SO PROUD to be his soon-to-be wife!

Wedding Planning…

Wedding Planning is well underway!  The dress is bought, the photographer’s booked, the cake lady’s ready to go!  We have been working in the yard of the house we’ll be renting during the last few weeks and it’s looking great!   We’ve picked our paint colors and potential carpet, and are just waiting for the word “GO!” to get it and get her all fixed up.
We’ve successfully registered at both Wal-Mart and Target.  I’m not completely happy with the dishes I’ve chosen, but I haven’t found anything I like better either.  I’m not registering for china b/c I find it pointless.  I’m sorry for those of you that are old fashioned, but I’m practical.  I’d much rather someone spend $50 on the lamps for my living room than for a single plate that would never be used.  That’s just the spendthrift in me…also, hence, why we’re registered at Target and Wal-mart!  :-)
Speaking of registering…Heidi’s made adorable invitations for our shower on May 1st!  I’m really looking forward to Andy’s extended family meeting some of mine!  I have a feeling his Granny and my grandparents and Nellene will hit it off! LOL
I had the day off today and am really dreading going back to work tomorrow for the first day of classes at LTC.  Andy’s on spring break this week, so it stinks having to work while he’s working at our new house!  Wedding count down is 80 days and so much is yet to be done…work just gets in the way!! LOL  Too bad it’s what has to pay for it all!
Ah well…thanks for reading!  My mind is on the wedding, but my heart’s already in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico!  I’m READY for sand and sea!
